The first annual Single Speed Mountain Bike Championships for
Canada will be held in Parksville at the Top Bridge Mountain Bike
Park, on October 8, 2000.
As the name implies riders will only have one gear, or speed, on an
otherwise modern mountain bike. This sport has taken off in state like
California and New York and the first World Championships took place two
years ago.
There will be classes for all the different age groups and skill
levels, but the riders will have only one gear. Plenty of prizes are up
for grabs so come and expect to have a lot of fun.
Don't have a single speed? Not to worry, at the event mechanics will
convert your bike to a temporary single speed for free
